DEZSÖ SZABÓ
1967, Keszthely, Hungary. Lives and works in Budapest

Images are therefore unreliable imitations. In this interpretation Szabo´s achievement relies on the fact that he draws attention to it not through his photographs but through the reality manipulated with photography. If we consider that his images draw from an objective reality structures of stills made from documentaries, we can accept that his works indeed reflect to the highest degree on the strategies of our media-driven culture. They do not achieve it through sharp criticism but through the desire to surpass it. This is also why there are so attractive. At the same time they use the commonly understood photographic language and rely on the scepticism so characteristic of our times, which manifests itself, among others, in the relationship between the images and the recognition of them.
