| Keep a Kippà
Kippà is the famous skull-cap worn by Hebrews, a kind of
portable vault of heaven, intermediating between celestial sphere
and earth, with the sole object of avoiding that the stench of human
thoughts could reach God. It accompanies Hebrew all day long remembering
that: “a menc tracht un Got lacht” (Man thinks and God
laughs).
This small headgear assumes here a twofold value: the security given
by
identity and the danger hidden behind every choice. It will become
the
encumbering gift dealt out to the visitors of the Prague Biennale,
evoking
also the Jewish “imagerie” of this ancient town.
