Gabríela Fridriksdottir
1971, Reykjavik. Lives and works in Reykjavik

The materials of Gabríela Fridriksdottir’s drawings compose the basics
of organic art. Made with black ink pens on white paper, their scale is an important element as the dots of blacks dribbling from the pen form
infinitesimal circles being explanded into tiny creatures coming in and out of organic forms. They make one realize that we can endure a lot of pain and pleasure for the sake of finding out who we are and what this world is. Being Icelandic surely means also being isolated; though here all
characters are bond with one another and give a lightweight
sense or existence.
