SWETLANA HEGER
1968, Brno, Czech Republic. Lives and works in Berlin

Based on my own economic situation as an artist, I build myself a
microcosm that pays its own way to a certain extent, so that I am not forced to depend entirely on exhibition budgets. It is absurd that there are virtually no exhibitions for which you receive a fee for having your name on the wall, although you do the intellectual work up front. In my projects, I examine these economic structures and, like a producer, I set up a framework in which everyone involved acts as a co-producer.
