Athanasios Argianas
1976, Athens. Lives and works in Athens

Athanasios Argianas’ work is the product of commissions and
collaborations, and it often creates ways of layering authorship. He also produces music as “Gavouna” on the English record label Melodic.
Proposal For a Mobile Plateau is a piece of furniture, a case hosting an essay as well as a CD compilation.* It contains a P.A. system showcasing the CD compilation, while through the incision on the left side, one can read the essay “Musique d’Ameublement” by Erik Satie printed onto a cylinder.

Proposal For a Mobile Plateau functions as a sort of nomadic object,
residing in one space and then another, informing and entertaining or
disrupting the environment it inhabits.

*The CD is a sound project compilation curated by Moritz Wissel and published under the Cologne/London based Smoothrooms collective. In the “Music for Furniture” musicians and artists were asked to make work responding to the phrase ‘Music for Furniture.’
